Bio
Nicholas Whitley is a violinist recognized for his artistry, dedication, and commitment to musical excellence. Since beginning violin at the age of eight, he has pursued music with discipline, curiosity, and a deep passion for performance. His work as a musician reflects a desire not only for technical mastery, but also for meaningful artistic expression and genuine connection with audiences.
Nicholas is a graduate of Shenandoah University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance under the instruction of Akemi Takayama. During his time there, he cultivated both his technical command of the instrument and his individual artistic voice through rigorous study, ensemble leadership, and a wide range of performance experiences.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Miami Frost School of Music as a recipient of the Henry Mancini Fellowship. His continued artistic development has been shaped by the mentorship and inspiration of distinguished musicians and educators, including Stella Chen, Kevin Zhu, and Marin Alsop. These opportunities have strengthened his belief in the transformative power of music and the importance of collaboration at the highest artistic level.
As a performer, Nicholas strives to present thoughtful, expressive performances that communicate with clarity and sincerity. Whether in orchestral, chamber, or solo settings, he is committed to continual growth as an artist and to sharing music in ways that inspire, connect, and build community.
